Complete one guided workflow to go from an installer to a tested OBS collaboration source.

Before you begin

  • A Windows 11 computer running 64-bit OBS Studio 30 or 31.
  • Permission to install software.
  • Headphones for both participants.
  • A stable internet connection.
  • A vAudioLink account with hosted-relay access if you will create the session.
  • Available hosted time for a hosted session.

Check every requirement

Review supported software, accounts, audio, network access, and role requirements.
Treat a guest key like a temporary password. Share it only with the intended partner. Create a fresh key if it expires or reaches someone else.

Shared dock path

All three docks use the same persistent Role → Room → Configure → Live rail:
  1. Role — choose Host or Guest. This selection alone does not capture or send media.
  2. Room — create the hosted audio room or Scene Share Stage, or privately enter the supplied guest key or Stage code.
  3. Configure — confirm the intended OBS scene, local source, and plugin-owned collaboration source or source group.
  4. Live — continue only when both sides are ready, then monitor status, elapsed time, connection mode, and relay latency.

Definition of a successful first session

You are finished when:
  • Both docks show the expected connected or live state; for Scene Share, the intended guest is selected on stage.
  • The collaboration source has been added to the intended OBS scene.
  • Incoming audio is not routed back to its sender.
  • A short local recording contains the expected channels, backing track, or program video.
  • Ending the session leaves your global OBS stream and recording settings unchanged.
