In the hosted Scene Share workflow, the Stage host is the production receiver. Guests contribute their OBS Programs, and you choose which one appears in your OBS through the managed Incoming Program source. Only the host signs in. Guests join backstage without a vAudioLink account, and no guest sends a full media feed until that guest is both Ready and selected by you.

Before you start

  • Install Scene Share 1.0.1 on every participating OBS computer.
  • Sign in with an account that can use the hosted relay and check the hosted-time balance.
  • Create or choose the OBS scene that should contain the incoming guest Program.
  • Ask every guest to remove private windows, notifications, credentials, and unintended sources from their OBS Program before becoming Ready.

Select Host a stage

In OBS, open Docks → Scene Share.On Role, select Host a stage, then select Continue as host.If this OBS is not already authorized, complete Authorize in your browser and return to OBS. A saved, valid authorization is reused automatically.

Scene Share separates the Stage host from accountless backstage guests before Program media is sent.

Create a named Stage

On Room, keep Hosted backstage selected. Enter a Stage name, select a healthy Relay region, and set Maximum active feed:
  • 3 Mbps · 720p for a constrained connection.
  • 6 Mbps · recommended for the normal starting point.
  • 8 Mbps · high motion when both paths have comfortable headroom.
Select Continue to Configure.Expected result: Scene Share creates the named Stage and displays its Stage code. Creating the Stage does not start a guest encoder or full media feed.

Prepare Incoming Program

Under Prepare the receiving scene, select the Target OBS scene, then select Manage source.Expected result: the card shows Scene ready. The dock creates or reuses its private Media Source, shown in OBS as vAudioLink Incoming Program, without changing global OBS Stream, Output, or Audio settings.

Share the Stage code

Copy the complete Stage code and send it privately to the guests you want backstage. Several guests can use the same code.A hosted Stage code is not an SRT URL and does not contain a guest’s sender or receiver media grant.

Open backstage

Select Open backstage.Expected result: the Live page says Backstage open. Accountless guests can appear with their self-declared display names, Program capability, and readiness while using control presence only.

Review Ready guests

Wait until a guest’s roster state is Ready. A waiting guest is not sending Program audio or video.If the guest explicitly enabled Allow one preview still while waiting, the roster can show one silent 320 × 180 image captured when the guest became Ready. This is not a continuous preview. A later refresh request asks that guest for approval again.

Take one feed

Select Take feed beside one Ready guest.Expected result: that guest moves On stage, starts one private H.264 + AAC Program output, and the host opens it through the existing Incoming Program source. Wait for Connection good · one full feed, then position or crop the source like any other OBS scene item.Make a visible clap or slate while the guest speaks and confirm picture and sound arrive together.

Switch or take the guest off stage

To choose another Ready guest, select Switch feed and confirm the change. Scene Share uses break-before-make switching: the current private feed ends before the replacement guest receives a media grant. A short idle gap in Incoming Program is therefore expected.Select Take off stage to stop the current feed without ending the Stage. The guest returns backstage and can remain Ready for a later selection.

End the Stage

Select End stage when the production is finished.The selected guest stops, all backstage guests are disconnected, and the managed source is parked. Scene Share does not stop or reconfigure your normal OBS stream or recording.
Waiting guests and preview stills do not consume hosted media time. The signed-in Stage owner sponsors the one selected feed. See Hosted time.

Self-host and legacy direct compatibility

The hosted Stage workflow uses a Stage code. A complete encrypted Receiver SRT URL belongs only to Self-host direct or an older direct-compatibility session. Do not paste a Receiver SRT URL into the hosted Stage-code field. See Self-host from OBS when you intentionally need the direct sender/server path and have a legacy-compatible receiver. Two current Scene Share 1.0.1 docks should use a hosted Stage.
