Join a hosted Stage without an account, review and arm OBS Program, and send only while the host selects you.
A hosted Scene Share guest is the Program contributor. You wait backstage without sending a continuous media feed, then your full OBS Program starts only after you explicitly become Ready and the host selects you.You do not need a vAudioLink account. You need the host’s Stage code and a display name the host will recognize.
Build the exact OBS Program you are willing to send.
Hide credentials, notifications, private windows, and unintended sources.
Check that the intended Program audio is audible in OBS. Scene Share sends video and audio together.
1
Select Join backstage
In OBS, open Docks → Scene Share. On Role, select Join backstage, then select Continue as guest. No browser sign-in is required.
2
Find the host's backstage
Enter your self-declared Display name and paste the complete Stage code. Select Find backstage.Check the Stage name and Hosted by identity under Backstage found, then select Continue.Joining sends control presence only. It does not start the private encoder, audio upload, or SRT publisher.
Enter a self-declared name and the complete Stage code; finding backstage does not send Program media.
3
Review what may be sent
On Configure, inspect the local preview under OBS Program and confirm the displayed resolution and frame rate. This is your complete OBS Program, not a separately selected source. The card remains Not sending during review.
4
Choose whether to share one still
Allow one preview still while waiting is optional and starts off for every Stage. When enabled, becoming Ready captures and shares one silent 320 × 180 Program still. It does not open a continuous preview or audio stream. If the host later requests an updated still, Scene Share asks you to approve that new one-shot capture before sending it.Leave the option off if you want the host to see only your display name, readiness, and Program capability while you wait.
5
Become Ready
Select Ready to be selected.Expected result: the Live page says You’re ready and waiting, shows Program armed, and still reports Nothing is being sent. Ready is advance consent for the host to select this Program; it is not a media start by itself.
6
Wait for host selection
Stay in the Backstage state. Scene Share maintains lightweight presence so the host can see that you are available. If plans change, select Withdraw readiness. The host can no longer select your Program until you explicitly become Ready again.
7
Confirm the on-stage send
When the host selects Take feed, the dock changes to ON STAGE and starts the private Program output.Expected result: the dock reports Sending full program and the host receives the same H.264 video and AAC audio through their managed Incoming Program source.Make a visible clap or slate while speaking so the host can verify picture and sound together.
8
Stop or leave
While selected, use Stop sending & return backstage to stop locally and withdraw readiness. You must become Ready again before another media start is allowed. If the host selects Take off stage, your private output ends before you return backstage. Select Leave to leave the Stage completely. End stage on the host side disconnects everyone.
Ready applies to the current full OBS Program. Recheck Program whenever you change scenes or reveal a new source while waiting.
The optional preview is one silent still with explicit consent. The selected Program is a live, muxed video-and-audio feed. Enabling a preview never makes continuous Program media leave OBS, and declining a refresh does not cancel your Ready state.
The Scene Share 1.0.1 backstage form accepts a Stage code, not a Receiver SRT URL. It does not expose the older Paste Receiver SRT URL action. An encrypted srt:// Receiver URL from Self-host direct requires an older direct-compatible dock or another explicitly compatible receiver. Keep it private and see Self-host from OBS for that boundary. Do not convert or shorten it into a Stage code.
