How the pieces fit together
The bot does not connect to voice, hear audio, or speak. It observes voice presence and can post a join button in a text channel. vAudioLink production audio travels directly between the OBS docks and the vAudioLink relay.
Before you start
- The server owner or a member with Manage Server can add the app.
- The person sponsoring the room has an eligible vAudioLink plan and links the same Discord account in the panel.
- Everyone using automatic Follow Discord has the latest vAudioLink ASMR dock installed.
- Use a regular voice channel with no more than two human participants. Bots and the server AFK channel are ignored.
- Decide whether you want one fixed studio channel or want the bot to follow a designated creator between channels.
1. Add vAudioLink to your Discord server
1
Open the official install page
A server owner or member with Manage Server should open the following link:Confirm that the application is named vAudioLink and its description is vAudioLink Room Management Bot before continuing.
Add vAudioLink to Discord
Install the verified vAudioLink application and its slash command.
2
Choose the server
Select the Discord server, review the requested permissions, then select Authorize. The bot requests View Channels and Send Messages. It does not request Connect, Speak, or access to message content.
3
Verify the integration
In Discord, open Server Settings → Integrations → Bots and Apps and confirm vAudioLink appears. It should also appear in the server member list.If the app is missing, repeat the install while signed in to the correct Discord account and confirm you have Manage Server.
4
Review command access
The
/vaudiolink command defaults to members with Manage Channels. That is the safest setup: an administrator posts the guest join button, while guests only select it.If you deliberately want another role to run /vaudiolink join or /vaudiolink usage, manage the command under Server Settings → Integrations → vAudioLink. The bot still enforces Manage Channels for binding commands and Manage Server for setowner.2. Configure the Discord voice-room behavior
Choose one of the following patterns. Do not configure both unless you intentionally want to replace the previous behavior.- Follow one creator
- Use one fixed channel
Use this when the collaboration room should follow a designated creator into whichever normal voice channel they join.
-
A member with Manage Server runs:
- The selected creator joins the voice channel they want to use.
-
Run
/vaudiolink status channel:#channel-nameto confirm the active channel is enabled.
A room binding supports two human participants by default. A third human in the voice channel prevents the collaboration assignment. Move spectators to another voice channel.
3. Link the host’s Discord account
The sponsoring host must link Discord before the dock can identify them. A guest who joins through the bot’s guest-key button can remain accountless.1
Open the vAudioLink profile
Sign in at panel.vaudiolink.eu, open Profile, then select the Account tab.
2
Start the Discord connection
Under Discord connection, select Link Discord. In Discord, approve the connection for the same account that will join the voice channel.
3
Sync the link
Return to Profile → Account. Select Sync if the card does not update automatically.Expected result: the card says Discord linked. If it still says Discord not linked, make sure the Discord account appears in the embedded account settings and select Sync again.
4
Confirm sponsorship
In Discord, run:The response is private. It should show the linked plan and remaining hosted hours. If the bot cannot find the account, repeat the link and sync steps.
4. Start Follow Discord in OBS
1
Join the configured voice channel
The linked sponsor and collaborator join the bound Discord voice channel. Keep the room to two human participants.
2
Open and authorize the ASMR dock
In OBS, select Docks → vAudioLink ASMR Collab, then Host a session and Continue as host. If this installation does not already have a valid saved authorization, finish the browser approval.
3
Select Follow Discord
On Choose room mode, select Follow Discord, then Next.
4
Wait for the channel match
The dock connects to the vAudioLink control plane and looks for the Discord voice channel containing the linked account.Expected result: the dock identifies the expected server and channel and reports that the Follow Discord room is ready. If it says the feature is off, the account or community does not have
discord_rooms enabled.5
Explicitly enable sending
Enable the dock’s send opt-in or start-session control only after verifying the matched channel. Merely joining Discord never starts production-audio transmission.
6
Verify the OBS source and routing
Confirm the vAudioLink incoming source is present in the intended scene and its meter responds. Keep it on Monitor Off unless you built an isolated monitor bus.Decide whether Discord is talkback-only. If OBS captures both Discord audio and the vAudioLink incoming source, the audience can hear a doubled or delayed voice.
5. Bring in an accountless guest
The host or administrator can post a reusable button for the currently active voice session:- Joins that Discord voice channel.
- Selects Join vAudioLink session in the text channel.
- Receives a private response containing Open in OBS and a guest key.
- Opens the handoff on the computer running OBS.
- If the browser handoff is blocked, opens the ASMR dock, selects Join as a guest, and pastes the key manually.

Troubleshooting
Leaving and moving channels
- In owner-follow mode, moving the designated creator moves the active binding.
- Leaving voice or moving to the server AFK channel clears the owner-follow binding.
- In fixed-channel mode,
/vaudiolink unbind channel:#studioremoves the binding. - A new room assignment never bypasses the dock’s explicit send opt-in.
Prevent duplicate audio
Audit Discord application capture, vAudioLink sources, and monitor modes.
