The guest joins without an account. The host creates the room and controls the shared backing timeline.

Before you start

  • Install the current vAudioLink Music Collab plugin.
  • Ask the host for a current Music Collab guest key.
  • Add your microphone to OBS, apply the intended filters, and verify its meter.
  • Connect headphones before joining.

Open Music Collab

In OBS, select Docks → vAudioLink Music Collab.On What are you doing today?, select Join as a guest, then Continue as guest. The rail advances from Role to Room.

Enter the guest key

On Connect with a guest key:
  1. Enter Your display name.
  2. Paste the complete Guest key from the host.
  3. Select Continue.
No account is required. A Music Collab key resolves the room and relay before the dock advances to Configure.

Enter the complete Karaoke key before choosing the vocal source sent to the host.

Choose what the host receives

On Choose what the host receives, select the microphone or other OBS audio source that the host should hear.Speak and confirm the left and right vocal meters respond. Nothing is sent from this screen.

Connect

Select Connect.Expected result: the rail advances to Live, the status changes to Sending vocal, and the participant card reports Connected to your host.

Add the guest playback sources

Make the OBS scene where you want to monitor the backing active. In Live, expand Session tools and select Add missing scene sources.The guest scene receives the plugin-owned vAudioLink Backing (monitor) and muted vAudioLink Backing Video sources. It does not create the host’s combined vAudioLink Output source.

Wait for the active song

Keep the room connected while the host prepares and shares the active song. The status can show preparing, receiving, or waiting before it becomes ready on both ends.If a YouTube song is labelled Audio only, the backing audio still prepares and synchronizes normally. vAudioLink Backing Video and Music View ↗ display the branded audio-only fallback instead of embedded video.

Follow the host playback

Let the host use Play, Pause, Previous, Next, and Restart. Do not start another copy of the song in a separate player.Select Music View ↗ if you want the simplified performance display, then sing a short test phrase and ask the host to check the combined output recording.

Guest rules that preserve sync

  • Stay connected while the active backing track is shared.
  • Do not independently play the same song in another media player.
  • Keep vAudioLink Backing (monitor) out of the program mix unless you have deliberately designed that routing.
  • Let the host control the shared count-in and transport.
  • Keep the selected OBS vocal source and sample-rate configuration stable during the session.
Music Collab aligns both performers to one backing timeline. It does not remove conversational network latency between two open microphones.

Leave the session

Select Leave session. The dock stops sending your vocal and returns to Connect with a guest key. If reconnecting fails, ask the host for the current key.
