# Music Collab problems

> Fix vocal-source, backing-track, transfer, synchronization, and managed-source issues.

## Cannot create a session

* Complete browser sign-in.
* Confirm the account reports hosted relay access rather than **plan required**.
* Select a valid vocal source.
* Refresh the relay catalogue and source list.
* Confirm the selected relay is reachable.

## “Unsupported local file”

Choose a local Ogg Opus file with `.opus` or `.ogg` extension. Other local formats are not accepted by the current local-file path.

## Backing track does not load

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="YouTube">
    * Paste a complete supported URL.
    * Select **Load / Change track** after the room is live.
    * Keep OBS open while the local extractor prepares the media.
    * Preserve the exact preparation status if extraction fails.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Local file">
    * Select **Local file**.
    * Choose `.opus` or `.ogg`.
    * Select **Load / Change track**.
    * Keep the session connected while hashing and uploading finish.
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

## Stuck on preparing, uploading, or receiving

1. Keep both peers in the room.
2. Confirm the relay connection remains live.
3. Wait for preparation to finish before pressing Start.
4. Check available disk space and endpoint security on the host.
5. Retry with a shorter known-good local `.opus` or `.ogg` file.
6. Save the exact status and OBS log if it stalls again.

## “Waiting for both peers”

The host has prepared the asset but the guest has not acknowledged readiness.

* Confirm the guest remains connected.
* Ask the guest for their transfer status.
* Do not start another independent song.
* If the guest disconnected, reconnect first and allow the transfer to resume or restart.

## Start song is unavailable or fails

* Create or join a live room.
* Load or receive a backing track.
* Wait until both peers report ready.
* Resolve any managed output preparation message.
* Then select **Start song**.

## Backing track is doubled

The combined program output and monitor backing are both reaching the program.

1. Keep **vAudioLink Output** in the stream mix.
2. Route **vAudioLink Backing (monitor)** only to the intended local monitor.
3. Check desktop audio and application capture for another copy.
4. Record with each path enabled separately.

## Vocals do not align with the backing

* Confirm neither participant started a separate local player.
* Confirm both ends used the shared scheduled start.
* Stop and restart the song from the host dock.
* Verify the selected vocal source is direct and not delayed by another monitoring application.
* Preserve diagnostics and a short local recording for support.

## Sources cannot be added or removed cleanly

If a same-named user source exists, the dock deliberately avoids taking ownership of it.

* Rename or move the user-created source.
* Select **+ Add Output + Backing + Video to scene** again.
* Use **Remove from OBS** only for plugin-owned Music Collab sources.
* Never delete unrelated sources merely because their names look similar.
