# Glossary

> Definitions for vAudioLink, OBS, connection, media, and synchronization terms.

## A–M

  <Accordion title="Backing track">
    The Music Collab song asset prepared and shared so both peers use the same media and timeline.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Control plane">
    The service responsible for accounts, entitlements, rooms, session authorization, and relay credentials. It is separate from the media relay.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Direct room">
    A session created by a signed-in host and joined with a temporary key or receiver URL.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Dock">
    A panel inside the OBS user interface. Each vAudioLink product installs its own dock.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Follow Discord">
    An optional ASMR Collab and Music Collab mode in which eligible Discord voice presence selects the collaboration room.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Guest key">
    A temporary credential that lets an accountless ASMR or Music guest join one role in a room.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Hosted relay">
    A vAudioLink-operated forwarding service selected and authorized through the product dock.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Incoming Program">
    The plugin-managed Scene Share receiver source containing the sender's video and audio together.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Managed source">
    An OBS source created and owned by a vAudioLink dock. The plugin only updates or removes sources it can identify as its own.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Monitor Off">
    An OBS Advanced Audio Properties mode that does not send a source to the configured monitoring device. It is the safe starting point for incoming collaboration audio.

  <Accordion title="OBS Program">
    The final program output shown by OBS. Scene Share sends the complete Program, not an individual source.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Receiver SRT URL">
    An encrypted Scene Share connection URL that grants temporary access to receive one program stream.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Relay">
    A network service that forwards authorized media between product endpoints. It does not produce the OBS mix.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Room">
    The temporary logical session that associates host, guest, relay, roles, and credentials.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Self-hosting">
    Starting the bundled local relay or server from the product's **Self-host** tab instead of using the hosted relay.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Shared timeline">
    Music Collab's common backing-song position used to align playback and vocals across peers.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="SRT">
    Secure Reliable Transport, the network transport used by Scene Share for muxed program video and audio.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Talkback">
    A communication path used by participants to converse. It should be routed separately from production audio when duplicate capture would occur.
