# Update or uninstall

> Replace a vAudioLink build safely and remove a product you no longer use.

## Update a product

<Steps>
  <Step title="End active sessions">
    End the room or Scene Share session and save any OBS log needed for support.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Close OBS completely">
    Exit OBS and confirm `obs64.exe` is no longer running.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Download the promoted installer">
    Use the [Downloads page](https://vaudiolink.eu/download). Do not assume every repository artifact is approved for production.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Run the installer">
    Install the replacement over the existing product. Keep the same OBS target unless you intentionally changed OBS installations.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Restart and verify">
    Open OBS, open the dock, and confirm the expected plugin version where shown. Run a short local test before the next production session.
  </Step>

## Uninstall a product

Use the product's Windows uninstall entry when available. Close OBS before removal, then reopen OBS and confirm the dock no longer appears.

Plugin-managed scene sources may remain as missing or inactive items after uninstall. Review and remove only the scene items you no longer need.

  Do not manually delete broad OBS plugin or configuration directories. Other plugins and the user's profiles may share those locations.

## After an update

* Reopen the dock.
* Confirm the correct microphone or vocal source is still selected.
* Confirm managed sources still belong to the intended scene.
* Run the [preflight checklist](/getting-started/preflight).
* If the dock is missing, use [installation troubleshooting](/troubleshooting/install-dock).
